0:00 Chicago, 2024 was a year of momentum. A year in which we rolled up our sleeves and took on the big challenges together with collaboration, care, and creativity. Neighborhood by neighborhood, we built and rebuilt the soul of Chicago. And together, we reached major milestones and finally realized the hard-fought progress that Chicago has been promised for decades. This year, our administration is proud to celebrate big improvements in community safety as we see crime trending downward in every major category.

0:38 We have been going block by block, making investments and connecting with community members so that together we can prevent and heal from violence. In 2024, we passed the largest economic and community development investment in Chicago's history, dedicating $1.2 billion to build housing and grow our city. With this unprecedented investment, I have made a conscious effort to ensure that the South and West sides have community spaces and resources that bring vibrancy, safety and prosperity.

1:18 We honored our standing as a welcoming city by upholding our commitment to supporting our unhoused neighbors through our one system initiative. Through partnership and collaboration, we will continue to support all Chicagoans seeking housing and wraparound support services. Our city is open for business, and we were thrilled to celebrate CyQuantum's multi-billion dollar investment. The company will build the nation's first commercially useful quantum computer right here on our city's southeast side, a community that has not received sustainable investment in decades.

2:01 Together with Advocate Health Care's one billion dollar investment in a new health facility to serve the south side, we are recovering our economy and revitalizing our neighborhoods. We also celebrated Google's redevelopment of the Thompson Center, the 1901 project that will strengthen the West Side and our one hundred and fifty one million dollar transformational program on LaSalle Street. This year, we showed our city's youth our love by hiring nearly 28,000 young people for summer jobs and investing in their futures.

2:40 We also expanded mental health services on the south and west sides, reopening the Roseland Mental Health Center and adding mental health services in our libraries and health clinics. Chicago, I am grateful for all of the progress that we have been able to achieve together. And there is still more work to be done. In 2025, let us continue collaborating to build a better, stronger, safer Chicago for all.
