[0:00](https://www.chicagopolitics.org/mayor/videos/7bYdu29I7DM?t=0) This May, I join you all in celebrating and recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month. We know that an accessible, equitable, and affordable mental health system is vital for the health and well-being of our communities. Yet, due to the stigma of mental health conditions, lack of access, and lack of education on mental health services, many residents do not seek treatment. Here in Chicago, we are addressing mental health head-on by opening, reopening, and expanding mental health services throughout the city.

[0:34](https://www.chicagopolitics.org/mayor/videos/7bYdu29I7DM?t=34) We have opened and expanded mental health services in three locations around the city, and we are continuing to do the work to bring more access to our residents. So this month and every month, let us come together to spread awareness, break the stigma, and build support for those living with mental health conditions. When we address and improve our response to mental health, we are ensuring the health and well-being of our residents and our city.
