Hi, I'm Randy Conner, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Water Management. We're kicking off construction season to make sure Chicago's water and sewer systems stay reliable and resilient so you can continue to count on clean water. This year, we're replacing 12 miles of water main, nine miles of sewer main, and lining 42 miles of sewer to extend their lifespan. We're also prioritizing flood protection with underground overflow tanks and replacing stormwater restrictors and over 236,000 catch basins to reduce basement flooding. Additionally, we're replacing 8,000 lead service lines and rolling out a new program to replace entire blocks of lead lines, improving efficiency. The Department of Water Management provides safe water to Chicago and 120 suburbs. Stay updated at chicago.gov backslash water or follow us on Facebook. Thanks.
