The City of Chicago is committed to climate actions that create new jobs in the green economy, reduce carbon emissions, accelerate community wealth, and make our city safer, healthier, and more sustainable. Hi, I'm Angela Thovad, Chief Sustainability Officer and Commissioner of the Department of Environment in the City of Chicago. One of the biggest steps we've taken this year is transitioning all of our government operations to 100% renewable energy. That means the lights in your library, the streetlights in your neighborhood, and even the outlets at O'Hare and Midway airports are all sourced by clean energy. Much of that energy comes from the new double black diamond solar farm right here in Illinois. With nearly two million panels, it's the largest facility east of the Mississippi. It's creating jobs and cutting emissions, equivalent to taking 62,000 cars off the road each year. And that's just the beginning. Working with Mayor Johnson and our partners across many sectors, we're on the path to making all of Chicago 100% renewable by 2035.
