Um, there are actually no changes that we are requesting to our 2024 special event ordinance for us. It's business as usual. um, as you can see, we're planning the return of our Um, as you can see, we're planning the return of our Chicago Signature Events among them the Chicago. Festival Chicago Gospel Music Festival tast. Festival Chicago Gospel Music Festival Taste of Chicago, Chicago air and water show. Chicago air and water show Chicago jazz festival and the world music festival, Chicago. Our activities also include programming and mill. Park, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this summer. the Chicago Cultural Center exhibits and much The Chicago Cultural Center exhibits and much more. Also kind of get that same scrutiny. scrutiny have we considered that as well so that we're not looking at? looking at you know say somebody that wants to do a 5k on a weekend. weekend around there or is it just related to these? Um, it's related to all special events. Uh, um, it's related to all special events, uh that apply for a special event permit application through our department. Um, you may or may not know that every application is reviewed by 8 City departments. Um, and we are very cognizant of our emergency partners and the strain on their resour. resources. So all of that is part of the conversation and is that um a week ahead and a week after or are we just looking for that sort of? Oh, no it it'll looking for that sort of? Oh, no it it would be the entire season. We have a bit of a busy summer. Sweno is coming. NASCAR is coming back for a second year. We have la la Palooza On so all of its taking in consideration. Oh when you're looking at for instance the the biggest driver of You know some of the police. You know some of the police, uh needs are during 5Ks. these these races that I see in my ward. where Where they have to block off every corner, you know you're talking. talking uh several dozen officers. Um, so, you know the week before they're going to be So, you know the week before they're going to be an intensive training, uh 2 weeks after. intensive training, uh 2 weeks after we've seen this with other major events like this. We have a pretty significant reduction of available offers. reduction of available offers officers due to injuries other things like that. Um, so are we looking at the week after the 2 weeks after as well in terms of what the police needs are going to be? I I get the other departments C dot signs off on stuff. Um, you know, whatever bacp with the licensing things like that if it includes a liquor license, but it seems our biggest driver is the police department. Yes, and thank you for that. And CPD is part of the review process. process also but to your point, yes, we are taking into consideration. consideration that also we also have pushed many runs to the lakefront.
