dla Piper good morning chairman and members of the
committee. I am the attorney for Great Chicago. I'm joined
by Jennifer bransfield who is also with great Chicago and
Cynthia rubeck the Deputy Commissioner Department of
Planning and Development Group. Chicago is the diverse team
of Chicago developers that was selected by the city to
acquire and redevelop the former Michael Reese Hospital
site in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood with a new
multi-phase mixed-use development containing up 27 million
square feet of commercial institutional and mixed-use
mixed-income housing. The request today is for the release
of a restrictive covenant that was imposed by the city in
1924 when the city vacated the public alley in anticipation
of the hospital so that the city of Chicago which is the
current property owner. They subsequently acquired the
property obviously many years after 1924.
The Nelson City now seeks to release that restrictive
covenant because it's just no longer relevant to the
proposed. I used in development of the property. You can
see on the black and white exhibit. The red area is the
area of the restrictive covenant itself the remaining areas
kind of the environs of the Michael Reese Hospital site
just for further contacts. If you're able to see lower down
is a depiction of the existing street that work and the
proposed street that work that was approved by the city and
