Any written comments that have been submitted will be posted and made available for all the medic review. Our first Speaker today is Natasha done. The. Natasha done is not present. Our next speaker today is Did you? Could you, please could you please step to the mic on the right side of the chamber? Hi, hi. My name is Natasha done and I'm a resident of the South Shore Community. I also the founder of co-founder the black community collaborative and I'm here today. The one welcome you make Miranda Johnson and also to say that our community is very disheartened and how this migrant crisis has been handled, we are very concerned about the fact that our community has been dealing with so much trauma, so much heartache. Open. Over the past couple of decades and we don't feel like the city council Representatives who are supposed to represent us are doing a great job at that. We have had so many of you dying on the streets of Chicago, our community don't want that. We work hard every day to improve the conditions of our community. Most of us in the black community worked part-time, full-time volunteering and we just don't feel like we're getting the enough support to ensure that our communities are safe. And not only that, that we have the economically opportunities that we deserve to, to be able to be successful in our community. So therefore we're here and it's a group of us out of here. We're here today because people are not Altima to vote. No for that 15 million migrants. And the reason why we say that is because I'm just what I said, we've been here for a long time and our issues are not being addressed at Will you be safe? So you can say, we go. So you can say we giving billions of dollars for anti-violence clearly it's not working. Rest in peace, all the rest in peace officer Preston, rest in peace. David Johnson, rest in peace. So many children, so many people in our community, it's not working clearly. The money is going somewhere, it's not coming into our community so therefore we want to make sure that there's going to be any money. That's going to be the bat money is redirected into the development in our community specifically. We want that Building. Building Alderman, Michelle Harris, that was promised, South Shore. High School was promised to us years ago. We created plans, we sat there with a man with you with every one we want access to that school because that school is going to improve the conditions of our community. So today, we want you to vote. Yes for the black community. Getting 51 billion to improve our schools to be able to improve the conditions of our entire community. And to end the violence, we need you to be on board. We are in a crisis because it's not infected. Some of you all, maybe you don't understand it, but we feel it everyday. I'm a mother. I'm scared for my children's lives and I should not have to be in. I swear, I'm speaking for a lot of other mothers out here, including some of you all the men that live in the black community. So as a result, you got to say, no, because we voted for you and we will both you out. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. It was done for your comments. Our next speaker is Linda Dowell. Hi, good morning. Could you hear? Could you hear me? We can hear you. Okay? Wonderful. Good morning. My name is Linda Del Bosque. I'm the publisher and editor-in-chief of Chicago Latino magazine. Good morning city council. Hello neighbor bill from Chicago. And welcome AR Johnson to your first city council meeting. I'm excited to bring a new custom media to the Chicago area. I am excited at the only like Tina. Not let you know, lactina media outlets in Chicago representing first-gen like Tina, mother's women. And most importantly, small business owners as a publisher of Evanston woman magazine, came with serving three years as an advisor for the pre and post covid sing. The ratio of low minority businesses receiving any type of resources. But I'm friends with men, black and Spann. Asia. Asian, we're very small under State control. Her first like Tina Susana Mendoza, she's created a program to help small business become suppliers. Chicago has created relationships with big businesses on Hind closed doors, that provide opportunity for small businesses to become flyer Valley. Chicago has no marketing or advertising For small suppliers even though their website. It says, they promised that Community Alderman. What are you going to do about this? Are y'all going to sit there and allow this to happen as early as suicidal as I like a side before they launch inbox or larger property? Do you realize if a number of vendors and have that are minority who are women or men black Latino Asian, anything's are very little right now and they have no marketing plans to help bring our small businesses to the Forefront. NASCAR, same thing, we get Millers in the mail. I'm in the fourth ward. Lamont Robinson is my Alderman. We get Millers about the track. Oh, that's beautiful. But how about the suppliers Do they live? So they lied to you, but that's okay because you're okay with them coming in here, but not bringing in small businesses, that's money. Being lost in Chicago and generational wealth, beans and minimized. How would y'all live every day? Knowing this going to sleep. My name is Linda Del Bosque a Chicago Latino magazine. It is my priority to ensure that our small businesses are being represented in these large companies come and make these trade deals with you guys. Thank you and have a great day. Big. Thank you. Very Thank you very much. Miss the boss key for your comments. Our next speaker is Pat Franklin. Good. Good morn. good morning, all Good morning all. But first, I want to welcome you. Welcome you Mary Johnson in your newly, your leg all the minutes to Chicago. I'm one of the grass Grassroots lead at Chicago CCH which is Chicago called, listen for the homeless. And the reason I'm here today is because we are trying Get. Get a steady stream of Revenue while bringing Chicago home campaign. I think this is very important because everyone deserves housing in everybody deserves Healthcare. And I think this is also be good if we had to start his dream cuz it will help the migrants that I study coming here, and if we address this issue, I think we can do both help save Chicago, cut down a little crime and everyone will be happy but actually made because it's not a good thing to be homeless in Chicago or anywhere else in this city. And I think we have a big loving City that we can help everyone. Thank. Thank you. Thank. Thank you. Thank. Thank you very much for your comments. Our next speaker is Wallace Gator Bradley. What's all going to say to God be the glory? New. New mayor. You. Your platform that you ran on was multi-generational Multicultural and enough for everyone in the city. I'll see. I saw two stories that was on channel 7 with a pinstripe patronage within the Law Department, that's private attorneys, is milking the city council or the city's budget. What cases did? They cannot defend? When? 2013, I spoke before the finance committee in reference to In. Individual is wrongfully convicted that's getting out. let, Late. Later on, I'll be with 2016 or 2017 after 4 before the finance committee, the matter of record was a challenge. Pat. Pat Dowell was a member of that finance committee and Iron. Foreman city council. What was happening then? Play at 4. We? We go. We got a new mayor, a great man. I'll give you going to be a great man city Chicago. By God's grace and mercy. I dialed is not just a member to finance committee. She's a chairman of the finance committee, so I'm quite sure those concerns as far as getting rid of that pinstripe. A gymnast from what I saw on the news where the city has spent a billion dollars to private attorneys for cases that they can't win, especially those that are wrongfully. Convicted, and do they got certificates of Innocence. may I Man, when you get your corporate counsel, I believe after you cut that budget, that's going to the private attorneys, you would have money and won't have to raise taxes to help with the homeless and the migrants. Dave. David money. I'm not being there. No lobbyist. Under. Under the rest of Boulder. And I said to God, be the glory and I went in with this city, council in the mail you about a muscle. They? Thank. Thank you. Mr. Bradley for your comments. Our next speaker is Dixon Romeo. First of all, you don't want to think and welcome Mayor Johnson in the new Administration. You. You know, this is a moment, I'm a long time, South Shore, resident, and I think this is their brand is election day, Johnson, selection, and all you all selection is a signifier that folks in the city need and want something different right across the country, right? The prophets of old, don't help close in the city, they are helping folks, I mean that's why folks voted for something different across the country were experiencing a housing crisis, right? Which is being exacerbated by the humanitarian crisis of migrants being taken sent from the state of Texas across the different cities in. Chicago was one of those Cities Marathon crisis because the governor of Texas is treating people like political pawns. Right? And forcing in trading conditions where we think we have to do an either-or game, right? Chicago's on the richest cities on Earth, Bible City Hall historical tried to pitch like a Black and brown post. Black and brown post against each other and we should not be divided by this and fight for Crohn's. We should come together and fight for all the things that we need. Let's be super clear, right replicating, harmful system, replicating a system, where is zero. Some replicating system with one group has to win blues for another group to win isn't going to make us more powerful. Write these migrants were on bus is coming, our communities, they have just, as little power and has black and brown from stealing our neighborhood. When we come to City Hall, fighting them is not going to make us stronger, right? If we care about, I know personally what it feels like to be in the coroner's office and look at it. I love one. And no, they were killed by Community violence or Mumbai police violence. I know what it's like to stand in the county line, you trying to count pennies and helps your mom pay a lien on a house. She can stay in her home. I work with tennis and Community, residence. On the west side. On the Southeast side, in South Shore, and know what it's like, the people across the city are fighting for more and so if we know we need more communities, we need to be here, fighting for that. We know, we have a housing in South Shore. That's why we need to South Shore CBA. Right, we know we have homelessness is a number one issue in the black community. That's why we need to bring Chicago home. This Administration can do that. And all of us need to come together and support them, and push them to make sure these things happen. So we get the things we need and said, if I can get supposed to don't have power. Thank you. Make. Thank you. Bacon Restaurant a comments. Our next speaker is Noah Brown. Good. Des Moines. Good morning, everybody. And God bless us. You ask US citizen. We the people of the neighborhood Network Alliance. We both know to the $51 for the migrants in the South Shore. High School in this is fine. I am a resident of the 2020 of War, where I have a thief, or the migrant our priority should be the humanitarian crisis. That black Citizen have suffered a generation swine and to the above that Spirit, he's our address and black rice resident of privatized. We are you to vote no to using 51 billion dollars or any of our tax dollars to fund my Chris, and Evelyn's secret cult housing them, and neighborhood. Still dealing with a pack of red liner, drug poverty, violent crime in this investment. We want to be that we want the immediate support of our city and state governments to address to fix. Automatic erase this race. Race that created these disparities. We want the city of Chicago to create an office of black Americans to focus on culturally responsive Solutions in funding allocated to read Reno Nevada. Close school buildings to prove the value of our neighborhood and this is why 70 / 73% of Homeland cago black with thousands of black youth and families. Have the highest addiction rate 77% of homes foreclosed and due to taxes, are in African-American neighborhood. And that's why I say black families. Have the highest addiction rate. I am a middle-class living and feel like a local and I have an addiction. I don't have to get out. My car, do I have 51 more minutes? I have to get out of my condo on May 29th, Monday. For the holiday, they have $60,000 for every morning. This is not about me. It's about us every morning. Aarons 53rd Street. I watch the microphone up and down my street and I just seen a smile said, they had them cars job. Everything I want to join us and said, where's the pineapple? He said, I speak no English, I love everybody. I love America. Thank. Thank you, Miss Brown for your comments. Are. Our next speaker is Zip system. Praises to God to this great city council mr. My nervous. I am today. I'm I am so elated for this moment. I've never had it. Our. I was with you mr. Mayor in socks, part with these young men, those of you who are not there, Peyton was on this side and channel. It was on this side. So when Peyton hit a homerun and then some good mr. Mary had to keep it together. Then with Jen would do something good. Mister mayor again, had to keep it together because he was representing all of the city. Mr. Mayor and the city council, some of you all know me and some of you all help get elected to this office. I was. I was about. I was a bad boy that my dad play dad, save the White Sox. Dick Allen. I was his bad boy in 73 and 74. That's why so many memories came back when I saw these young men I'll I are messed up when I was on my way to Shaw University, Raleigh North Carolina, call the case. And one way, for two years, six months and God had a plan because there was a riot in Pontiac. Three guards, got killed and 180 inmates were injured, but God brought me through because I need a favor from you, and I need to pay for the mare. Possibly could be receiving two million dollars from the Boy Scouts because I was part of that lawsuit. So when call me and so b****, Denied and call me never said. He was sorry because I'm part of the Boy Scout and I know what those kids went through. And nobody said they were sorry because of what happened with these priests 400 of them. So when I'm calling on the city council to do what I'm calling on, Toni preckwinkle to do and what I'm calling on the governor to do some of those 400 names. Can go and do churches in other communities. I want us to make sure in the city council. All. all my Almond Hall, ottoman Coleman my cousin. Curtis Harris. Anthony build mr. Baseball, you didn't get these guys. This time is the Baylor. That's okay. The reason we need to look at the Priestess in this case, because they need to be on some of those contracts. Do it. so if we review and then we come with a clean bill of health, because goals 2200, no. Nobody said they were sorry. Call me didn't say it and so, she didn't say it forgive me for messing. His name of the city council can say, in a sense, we reviewed it. We looked it over and we're content with it's not a tumor. Make. Thank you. Thank you very much, mr. Sistrunk for your comments. Our next speaker is Jay Darnell Jones. You're more. Good morning. Mister mayor. Good morning to all of our esteemed elected officials. My name is j Darnell Jones. I am a 24-year retired, naval officer Navy, Jag, officer attorney, and also a diversity, equity and inclusion, professional. That's why. That's worth. That's worked in both Corporate America. And in the military over the last 23 years. Most recently, I started as a global director of diversity for a large commercial, real estate firm that has a presence here in Chicago. I want to come today because I am a resident of South Shore, if all of you know what's what happened in South Shore, the last few weeks. So I don't need to mention that. However, I am also one of the people who have decided to take a stand rather than stand back and allow it to happen. So, whatever to talk about today is diversity, is supposed to be a thing that helps us all. It's great. It's wonderful. That helps us learn about each other. Helps us appreciate our differences. I was not supposed to be used as a tool against the interest of black people. It. It is the It is supposed to be something that not only brings our issues to the surface, but allows us to finally come together collectively to address those issues and concerns. My concern is that all other issues for other people who come to this country had been addressed and had or are being addressed and have some type of solution on the table, for it. Our for us, it's consistently vote, vote, vote vote, vote blue, no matter who just vote, whatever the case may be, none of that is productive or none of that has has offered us any tangible outcomes thus far. Would we lie? What we'd like to see now happen is we'd like to we like to see somebody going to Black communities. What about youth programs? I'll use South Shore High School as a perfect example of that. That's cool has a pool in it. A swimming pool. We know that the second leading cause of death for adolescent black. You aside from gun shotgun wounds is drowning. Why don't? Why don't we open that school? Back up for programs, for our young black people who are at risk and make sure we offer them an opportunity to survive, not just survive, but Thrive and do what the rest of us or do we work hard in our community, to make sure that we have the upstanding community that it's always been. And we expect it to remain that way, which is why we gave such push back. We're not anti-immigrant at all. I think there is so much space and opportunity in the United States that we should accept. Everyone bring everyone here, but not at our expense, is black people. I am willing. I am willing. And I know my Alderman. I hope to have a conversation with her album, a to work with you and offer my expertise and diversity, equity and inclusion and my legal expertise to help when come up with some solutions that's going to drive back. We can't, we can't devalue black communities and offer support to other at the same time. Thank you. Thank. Thank you, mr. Jones for your comments. Our next speaker is Marianne Yankovic. Hello Marianne. You could also go by Polly and a resident of the 33rd Ward. I first moved to the city 20 years ago, I lived at 33rd and state. I watched the projects come down ten years ago. I watched the schools closed. And I've seen the divestment in our black and brown communities across the city year after year. I'm here today to advocate for the people of Chicago old, and new. We are in the middle of a humanitarian crisis, and one of the wealthiest cities in the world and it is time for our elected officials to respond. We? We need to meet this crisis with a structured response for migrants and refugees entering our city. But we also need to address the crisis of disadvantaged communities across our city with things like bring Chicago home and treatment not trauma. This is my. This is not an either-or situation. I've heard other people speak tonight or today and across the city at different meetings. But this isn't a situation where you pick one party and then choose the other to be disadvantaged. We can no longer make those decisions. This is a new Administration. Ever. Everyone deserves house. Everyone deserves housing, safety and health care, the people of Chicago, go to for care, not fear, and I challenge our elected officials and his new Administration to respond decisively with care. Thank. Thank you very much miss. You can ditch. Our next speaker is John Wayne fry. Hi. I'm with a 33rd Ward, Working Families and I can't believe that we're all here today. We United in Albany Park, young and old black-and-white brown, yellow and red. All kinds of gender and sexuality more than you can imagine. We all United and we knocked on doors and we reelected Rosanna and, And we elected Brandon. We we did that, not by fighting each other but by uniting joining together. Yeah. Now, there are a lot of people outside their yelling and screaming. They're pretty agitated by, I think maybe Fox News, something like that, but the truth is, unless your name is Running Bear or flying eagle. You're an immigrant or you're descended from him. I'm looking around at the crowd. Yeah. An. and, Some of us. None of us here, whatever is here and remember, Malcolm X. And I wonder what would Malcolm say? And I think you would talk about crabs in a bucket. We? We've got. Bring. Brown crabs. Try. Trying to climb out of the bucket. And black crabs, in poor white, crabs are all trying to crawl out of the bucket. And we're all being pulled down by each other. All we have to do is form a chain and climb over each other and out of that bucket and pull everyone else out. Now there is a issue of 51 million dollars or immigration, we need more than we need a quarter million do, but we need money for the Southside in the West. Thumbs. The money is out there. I know a lot of young people refer to it as the 1% old folks like me. Call it what it is. White power structure. There are a lot of rich people out there, white black rim, throw a lot. There's a lot of money out there and we can solve all these problems. We just have to unite. Thank. Thank you, mr. Fry for your comments. Your honor. There are no further speakers, who have time we signed up for the public comment. Thank you. This concludes the public comment. I am grateful to see so many individuals. He says, when the rules are public and the playing field is even the people can't compete and it can be, it could be fair. So they can take him be able to compete and be able to win, collectively, my bread and papers, that this was called the unity committee. Always say when the foundation is not right. If the foundation is not right, everything else won't be right, everyone knows that. Are. Everyone stated that they wanted this Council to have an independent counsel and said it's on committees. An. And everyone stayed. And everyone stayed at that they were in agreement. With this weather was doing elections or any other any other time. It was also stated that whoever is Mayor that they should have some input, which I totally agree, because they are held accountable or think, no one disagrees with that. But when part majority of the body is left out in their decision-making, then the foundation is wrong. You. You have to include everybody and we cannot go behind closed doors. We cannot cut deals with certain people to get people in certain positions, just to say, yes for me, whether it was under Rahm emanuel's, Lori Lightfoot. Who I consider a friend or the current mayor who I consider a friend. I have to represent my residence and when those residents are disrespected, I'm going to stand up and say all the time, this is not my seat. This is there seeds and that every time they have to have a voice in it. My good friend Leslie Harris insert over 27 years and its body. never had a Never had a championship. Dorothy Tillman, a big boys in his body for many years. Never had a championship, not about the championship. Is it? It's about the process and it's about what that word that we all use and so many people use it Loosely democracy. The. The rules are not a public and if the playing field isn't even then, that's not democracy. And so the foundation is wrong, and I hope we can go back there this up for everybody in and say, hey, Heather a process. That's fair a process. That's clear. Where was selecting our chairman with the input of this great mayor and with the things that he wants involvement, whether he wants to finance check whether he wants to budget chair things that he should have to help move this thing. Forward. but everything is But everything else. If no one has a voice in it, a collector voice in it. Best. That's not fair to the residents, we even voted for you. and, And so, I don't know what person or what committee or what, body decided to pick these chairs and he's Vice chair. but the But the 17 towards voice wasn't represented in the 17 towards Boise wasn't called to a meeting on that. it's a So with that said I have to both know and hoping that we can give everybody would everybody want by making sure that we come back and start this process over. So I will have to be recorded as a no on this item. Thank you. Does anyone else wish to speak or have comments? Alderman Lopez. They're wrecking. The Chair, recognizes Alderman Lopez. Thank you, mr. President, and good morning, members of the city council and a special good morning to all of the new members of the 2023 class. I'd I to join my colleagues from the 17th. Ward and speaking in opposition to this resolution, Or. 4 years. I've sat in this room and heard many of my colleagues. Big. Speak to the need of transparency inclusion and collaboration. That is not what this resolution represents. I miss. I'm mr. President. when this body in April of this year, met to create what they called The Independent counsel committee Ice. I spoke out against their resolution because I believe then as I believe now, and as I told you it as mayor, you have the right to participate in this process to push your agenda forward. And I firmly believe that. but, but I But I know that we are here in this moment. Is there? Is there were individuals who did not learn from the mistakes of others. and, And I for one do not want to see. This Administration, this new Administration, this new leadership team repeat the same failed mistakes of the outgoing Administration. When? When I was younger. I did. I didn't have Nintendo. I don't have steak Genesis. I actually had an Atari and one of my favorite games was called pitfall. it's like, It's like Indiana Jones knockoff, where you had to swing over the vines to miss the holes. You had a Dodge. The alligator that has the snakes, collect the treasure. I, I buy. I played that religiously and sometimes. Did. Didn't make. Didn't make it to the end. and, and I were And I was no good. Whoever just asked that. I be. I bring this up because the point of pimple was at the pitfalls themselves. We're not Secret. Are. Every screen, the change shows you exactly where the pitfall was exactly where the danger line, exactly. Where not to go. We can look back at the last four years and we can see where the pitfalls were in this room and where the pitfalls were for the 5th floor. Premier who jumped willingly into them, despite seeing them laid out there before them. This is a pitfall. This is a pitfall. Mr. President. Now. not because of your input but because of how it was sold to the 50 members in this room, or I should say more specifically not because, because the biggest Pitfall we have seen over the last four years. Was that government LED only the 26th and not building consensus through 50. Getting the job. Barely done. Is what left Lori? Lightfoot vulnerable year after year, after year and ultimately led to 84% of the city of Chicago saying they had had enough That. That is a pitfall, mr. President, I think you want to avoid and I hope you would have boy, we can learn from the mistakes of those who've come before us by not just going and reaching for the bare minimum. Not just trying to get through the day, but trying to get through the generational change that is before us, as my colleague said, laying a foundation upon, which we can be proud of that can move forward and continue on. this is, This decision today, mr. President has bothered me for number days. It is bothering me because I believe in my heart that you should be a part of the solution that you should be a part of creating the leadership team that's going to push your agenda forward. I said that publicly privately and numerous times to numerous colleagues and anyone else who wanted to secure it because I believe it in my heart to be the case. but when I see the But when I see this 3 minutes into our meeting, when everyone else has been talking about what committees, what Chairman's would vice-chairman, and no one bothers to include my ward in the discussion, even at tell me to get bent. We have a problem. I cannot support this. Ike. I cannot start the next four years being excluded or jumping to what many of my colleagues have tried to fix, which is it putting an end to direct introductions that nobody has seen until the moment they're being voted on We? We've. We have talked about that at nauseam, whether your Progressive weather going to stay out of everyone's tired of direct introduction that nobody season legistar, or even in our own hands, we've asked for it to be 48 hours. Notice some of the same people pushing this forward were listed as chairman have push that time and again, no more direct introductions that are written in secret. And yet, here we are in secret on the 23rd and a half hour when we're going to approve this today. We? We cannot continue like this, mr. President. And I think it's imperative that the message be heard loud and clear from you to your leadership team sitting amongst us here. At this is not how we're going to do business. And if we're truly about creating a new era, turning the next chapter, And we need to do this work. And we need to do this. Where everybody as my colleague said is involved and participates in this. My colleague said to vote, no. Iowa. I would actually make the motion to lay this on the table until all individuals are able to participate in this conversation. Thank. Thank you old, man. There's emotion on the floor. Olay. Olay, this item this resolution on the table and I would ask for real, please. Doja. So just for clarity, the motion on the floor is to lay this resolution on the table. If you vote Yes, or this motion. You were. You wish to discontinue our efforts to establish a body of government and committees. If you vote, no on this motion. You were. You wish to continue to make sure that we have a governing operating body of which we were elected to do. or I All right, Madam Clerk. Please call the roll. Are. Are we clear body? Play the most. The motion was to lay it on the table that motion was made. By. By Alderman Lopez, if you vote? Yes. You. You wish to end. Our motion to establish a body of government. Amelia Simon's. If you vote no on this motion, you wish to make sure that we continue to establish committees. So that the work of the people And Clark. He's? He's called the road. Now open the Voting is now open. Please hit refresh and hits them at your boat. The Voting is now open. Hit refresh. Make. May have to hit a couple times. Hit refresh. The Voting is now open. All. all the minion say, Dare. Darrell almond Nancy. Play. Please raise your hand if you need support. 925. Are you? There you go. I will now call on those that have not voted. All. ultimately, I just wanted. I just put it in, okay. I'll All. Alright, I would it all working. The Voting is now closed. Pikachu. Thank. Thank you madam clerk. There are 42 days or 8 years this motion fails. The chair recognizes the 45th. Ward Alderman person, Alderman, Alderman, Garner, do you still wish to speak? Yes, I just it. It's, it's a, it's a little bit late, but I just wanted to act or the sentiments of my colleagues Alderman Lopez and all them and more. Thank you. Thank you, mr. President, by the way, We? We don't, we don't always agree, Alderman, Lopez, and all them anymore, and I, but they are brave souls, and they always want me to not speak the truth. They brought up the fact that their Ward. Are they feel? As if that their voice is not heard 45th Ward feel the same way by no means. Am I asking I am not seeking leadership nor do I think that I have the knowledge or experience to do. So as of yet, I still believe that I have a lot to learn in order to earn a leadership role and those who have paid their dues in our leaders. I congratulate you I can send you all the mandal. I wish you nothing but the very best and I think you deserve everything that has come to you. Play. Prior to this, we had a vote for an independent Counsel on on March 30th where we we, we had 19 committee and we went to increase that to 28. Some. Some of which don't meet regularly at all. But yet we decided that we were going to increase those committees 228, too weak to buy votes, as my colleague, all them and more correctly said to buy votes and that's what we did on on March 30th with zero transparency. Not to mention to add 2.5 million dollars of taxpayers with the additional nine committees. I'm disappointed in the way. It went down on March 30th. I'm disappointed that the way it went down. Now I want to commend again all the men Lopez and all them. One more for being brave enough to speak out about this. And also to the newer Generations, I come from, as many of, you know, is a Chicago fireman. We're seniority is everything and everybody wants to come on to this job and everybody wants to put out the fire. Everybody wants to be a hero. when you go, when you go to the appropriate firehouses, a lot of smart butter and say Learn. Learning learning sweep, the floor, take out the garbage, do the little things clean out the rig, and I think that applies to every job or should should should have tied to every job. I think we all have to pay our dues We? We have people like all them in view who's been here for a 25 67 years. Never had a committee part of me, why he doesn't have anything now. Write Nikki was referring to his h.h. Again, I'm not saying that. I, I'm looking for any leadership, nor nor do I take that, I deserve it. I think I have a lot to learn. I think a lot of people in this room have a lot to learn, but they're in leadership roles because they're in what we would call The In Crowd. But I didn't get in here. I didn't get into politics to be in The In Crowd. so, So, I wish all of you, well, as I said earlier, and for those, with earned, your leadership roles I commend you, I wish you. Well, do everything to be helpful resourceful to you to help move forward the city's business. But when I see things, as my colleague mentioned earlier, about some of the decisions that we have made, whether they be on March 30th or today, it's disappointing to say the least. I think it's disappointing for the residents of the city of Chicago. I thank you for calling on me, Jeff. I know you see me earlier. I wish you would have called on me earlier prior to the vote, but I appreciate the fact. You give me an opportunity to Because the 45th. Because the 45th Ward feels as if our voices, don't want to be her. Thank. Thank you. Thank you, old man. Garner. is the Is there anyone else? Because I think it's important. In fact, I firmly believe it's important. That every voice is heard. It's The chair recognizes alderman. Sposato. Thank. Thank you, mr. President, and congratulations again, and looking forward to work graduation, a very much. Appreciate you picking me to be part of your leadership team. I think I earned I got a committee last time around which I renamed it, happy committee and you see me today at 2 meeting again. So I greatly appreciate it but I'm baffled about something. Dear mr. President. Laugh. Last meeting. Last meeting, I got a little bit of an ugly fight with a guy that I considered a friend for 12 years and was unfortunate, but I still consider him a friend. I hope we still can considers me a friend and as up that was over my opposition to the independent. Commit. Committees, I promise was I felt you as a marriage that have the choice to pick who you want, for the most part, but also to me. So he already does mean something. We have many people here to reclaim their big labor people, their labor people Send. Seniority is everything in labor so it can't be a hundred percent. That's not the way this work in the past. That's not the way it'll ever work. We have had seen your people like my colleague said, Leslie Harrison ever got a committee Anthony Beale was blacked out last time where what what reasons I'm not sure about but I'm just baffled. Just baffled of the people that were the architects of the independent committees are now supporting this. But I just had to say that it's just a little bit baffled by it. Some of us were against it a handful but many were 444 it out, things are changed but I believe things should change. You should have say you should have plenty of say about this cuz ultimately you're the one going to be responsible for all the agenda is moving forward. So once and for all, thank you very much for having the confidence. I mean, to be part of your leadership, I appreciate it very much and I think I can assure you. I will run the best committee as I did in the past. We have the best attendance record and my committee will be the most punctual. So thank you very much. They? Thanks. Thank you, alderman. Chair recognizes ottoman Vasquez. Thank. Thank, thank you, mr. President, I really appreciate our colleagues comments as to their critiques. I think some of them are very fair when people brought up issues, when there was the independent a product, same conversations about who was allowed to have the conversation, who was not, who is allowed to come in to have a conversation, who is not? I think her teeth were hearing with the new one, which I think. Celebrate. Liberty Lake democracy is something that one person is messy and I I firmly believe that no matter what the results of a committee would be you would get the critique that some of us felt like they were kept out are they were brought into the conversation, I think looking at the results of who is chairing the committee, their folks who were supportive of you, there were folks who were not supportive of you which I think is a fair consideration. I do appreciate our colleagues, emphasizing the importance of seniority. I need to know where you matters a lot, but so does labor. And as we look at some of the committee that were existing fire with members who were senior, there were committees, that didn't meet at all and had budget and didn't get any of the work done. So I appreciate the value of seniority. I also pray. I also appreciate. I also appreciate the value of Labor. And so I think that we're going to see going forward whether this committee makeup is when that's productive. And I think the people of the city and the other Elders will be determining if we are successful will hear it from the public. So I again I think it's very fair for all of our colleagues to be able to speak to it. I have my own critique that I know many of our members do but we have to get work done. It will remain in perfect. That is part of what our democracy and debate process is here, and I think it'll be up to the public to judge us over the next four years, but we do have to get some work done. So, I appreciate that there is a structure. I appreciate our colleagues for critiquing as well. And I look forward to figuring out who Lucien no matter where you. Weather. Whether you're a chair, when you're not a chair when you agree or not, that's hard with his body's here to do. And I'm just grateful to be here to help move it forward. Thank you. Miss present. Even though we split this year against Brooks, I am so proud that you are went on to represent us to win the city championship. I'll give it up. Give it up. I'll I've had the pleasure of watching all of these guys grow up, some of them close up and come from a distance. And when I tell you that, this is a great group of kids that are dedicated to Excellence when it comes to baseball. Then. Their dedication is unquestionable. These kids play baseball year-round and I can tell you that most of them are in and out of the Pullman community center, training year-round. And if you all have not had the pleasure of coming through the Pullman Community Center, it is a center that we have built in here in the city of Chicago, to allow our kids, to have the ability to practice year-round because we can't compete with California Florida. Who has? Who have great weather year-round. We have to shut down but we no longer have to shut down. and, and so what you all are going to start seeing is a different caliber of athlete coming out of Chicago and you all You all are the very beginning of that Trend. So I'm so proud of you guys and some of you all are going on the college. And you know, let me just say this is only the beginning take this experience and you know watching you guys jump around and jump, you know oh baby. You still gave me great pleasure because not only did you all win but you are one with class you want with dedication and so congratulations. Once again the world is you all taken by the hand and continue to do the things that you all are doing. Thank you so much and congratulations. Thank you. Did she? The chair now recognizes Simeon. Alma. Alderman of the 17th. Ward, David Moore. like, Thank you, mr. President, I definitely stand in support of this resolution. First of all, after I saw the boys Broncos, crying on the basketball in the city Championship. Ask my boyfriend, I said cut him some slack, let them win the state championship in baseball so y'all can thank me. But in all honesty, you are earning. I watch some of the games. I don't, I don't like that 12. I think was a $12, that's cool. When y'all be send me, how do you remember real? Well, don't you? Yeah. You just going to say it and so, but that's that competitive nature that you all have. I have a thing in my water is like a city that I recognize. What do you live in my water? Not I like playing the best of argue you all are the best of. Are you the best of our young people? That people don't get the constantly seen on the Nightly News? But I try so often weather through my Facebook. Facebook page. Facebook page or any of Facebook page or any other social media page to represent, you all, wear that Simeon, Kenwood or any other school because you all make us proud, not just on the field. Let me give a big shout-out to this color. Are some people say please, Stop it. Some people say, man, I don't know how you can be in all of them and I wouldn't want to do that job. It's my call. And I always say, I don't know how y'all can coach these kids in this time and all this stuff spinning your dollars, you all do so much coaches but you all do it too. So they're not that good just on the field but that there are good men in life and that's what I appreciate so much. Look at you. Look at you carry yourselves, I am so proud of you all. I'm so proud of your Victory, but I'm so proud of you. What you going to carry this Victory to in the life that you live. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this great team. I don't know much about Kenwood other than I thought it was a basketball Powerhouse. So I guess now, there going to be a baseball Powerhouse looking at this resolution, mr. President, it's some some unbelievable statistics, I see a winning 86% of their games, anytime anybody be slain and anything, that's really a big deal. So, the amount of kids, they haven't asked for, I'm not sure how many kids are in Kenwood, but you certainly don't have as many as lame. I look at this tea made from what I'm reading here. It looks like it is a pretty promising future wife seven sophomores on the team. So I'm guessing we'll be seeing them next year and maybe the year after that, but the coach Tracy, I want to congratulate you. I know it's a huge sacrifice. I know. I know your actual. I know you're actually lose money coaching. That's what I believe. I've been a coach not at the level. You're a coach yet but you always lose money but it's a true passion that you have kamaria Thunderbird. I'm reading this year. I mean you were Junior through 12 strikeouts in the game on Monday. I mean that that's pretty amazing dude. That's pretty amazing. So best wishes to you guys in the state just keep on doing what you're doing. Chair recognizes ottoman. Curtis Thank. Thank you, mr. President, I to risan sports this resolution graduation of the Kenwood and your coaches. This is a perfect example and I'm going to take a different spin on this mr. President. Here we are. Here we have young man, that's a real man and later on real fathers and real man. That's the reason like this is trunks was failing in his announcement earlier. We? We should not be spending money on these outside law firms to fight our cases. We should be doing them and put that money in the schools and bringing back all about school programs. We're talkin about the Arts and we talkin about the marching bands, things like that, you know, given the reason for our kids to grow up in a safe environment and that's what we should be doing these next four years. Thank you Miss, thank you old man. Curtis it's The chair recognizes President. Pro Temp Sam Nugent. Thank. Thank you, mr. President, I to rise in support of this resolution and honoring. Kenwood Academy Broncos on your Championship, what a tremendous accomplishment and I too was watching some of the videos and what a tremendous game. Congratulations. I also just wanted to highlight aldermen Bill brought up the Pullman Community Center and it's incredible. He brought it up to me over the past few years and so I went and tore it. So I think what an asset to the community that you all have year-round space to practice cuz it's it's critically important. And I think that's just a wonderful thing that that was established. So chair recognizes a chair, some Silverstein Thank you, mr. President and congratulations to you and welcome city council. I stand in support of this resolution and I am very proud to be here today to introduce a resolution celebrating Jewish American heritage month. It is my privilege to pay tribute to the invaluable contributions. Jewish Americans have made to our great nation, the Arts and Sciences business to philanthropy Jewish Americans have played an integral role in shaping the fabric of our society nation and city. As we celebrate is also necessary to draw a tension to the looming threat of anti-Semitism and efforts to combat it on a local and National level. The 50th Ward felt the string of anti-Semitism just a few years ago, when swastikas were drawn on local synagogues in schools, and windows were broken at jewish-owned businesses and places of War. If? If it. The 50th. Ward Community is always on high alert, walk into one of our local synagogues and you will see armed guards and security doors. Precautions needed to, keep the community safe from external threats. It is a sad fact that while Jewish Americans constitute only 2.4 of the u.s. population. We are victims of 55% of religiously-based hate crime, and by space incident anti-semitic hate crimes have risen sharply in recent years. And are currently at the highest recorded level in the midwest, just a few days ago, nearby Highland Park, John's a swastika and other anti-semitic messages on trash cans. It's red it's a present. It is pressing and it needs to be addressed. Now it is a It is it? it is ignorance that most often leads to hate which is why Jewish American heritage month is so important, celebrating Jewish Heritage and pride is the best way to fight against hate on a national level. Jewish history in America is almost as old as the country itself and you are citizens, have made an indelible impact on the cultural social and economic Factor fabric of our city and Nation. Do you split the atom and helped America win World War II? They worked on the vaccine that helps America recover from the covid-19 pandemic. They are. Lawyers. Lawyers teachers and nurses, fathers and mothers, and brothers and sisters, Jewish history and culture cannot be separated from the American Experience. They are inexplicably linked to our nation's Rich tapestry this morning. We had a press conference or we were joined by 20 or 30 people, and we have a few left. Thank you so much for being here with me today. We are represented by many Jewish communal leaders, including representatives of Chicago's numerous synagogues are also fortunate to have members of the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago here from the Anti-Defamation League. The American Jewish committee and the Simon wiesenthal Center. We also have. We also have numbers on the from the Chicago Commission on human relations and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, my friend, Jerry reinsdorf with you earlier this morning, a Civic leader, and a jewish-american owner of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago, White Sox, or the last. 35 years power to eyeball is here today with us as well. And we also had this morning representative from the foundation to combat anti-Semitism, which has started an important campaign to stand up to Jewish hate the foundation was founded by Robert Kraft, CEO and chairman of the Kraft group. It seeks to combat the indifference and ignorance surrounding anti-Semitism, through the use of the blue square, a unifying, symbol of solidarity. report for Support for the joy. Support for the Jewish Community, we have passed out a little pain to all of you and I appreciate both of my colleagues that are wearing them today. Ice. I see. I stand before you as the only Jewish member of the city council and one of only a handful of elected Orthodox. Jewish women in the entire country. I am proud to be a voice for my community, and I will continue to speak out against anti-Semitism and all types of page. I call upon my fellow City Council Members, Community leaders, and every six are going to join us. In this critical fight against anti-Semitism. Let us be proactive, advocates for change, inspiring others to stand up against hate and intolerance together. We can shape a future where no one questions, whether you can be both Jewish and American or every person regardless of their religious or ethnic background can Thrive and flourish. Thank you. The chair recognizes ottoman Lawson. Thank you, mr. President and thanks you all the women Silverstein for bringing this resolution, I proudly rise and support. I am honored to represent the strong and vibrant, Jewish community in Lakeview East. There are four houses of worship actually between the 44th and 46th Ward. The newest being a bottom like you is when they have some of the most fun events, you know, that is also home to a number of eye. Sonic jewish-owned businesses, like the bagel and more recently milt's barbecue for the perplexed, you should check out both now more than ever. I know that spanned together in the face of anti-Semitism and the politics of hate and division that we see all too often our nation. I know we have a divorce in welcoming community that will always stand up when one of us is the text. I don't know that there are allies. You're not the only one. You're not the only one. You had a loan with a lot of allies here. They will always have the back of this American. Thank you, mr. President. Thank you Alderman. Chair, recognizes ottoman. The nuts in. The Knudsen I say that, right? Yeah. You said it right? Thank you mr. President and thank you alter Silverstein for bringing forward this resolution as well as just constant conversations on how we can help the fight against hate speech, in the city of Chicago, to stand this morning, with with you in the Coalition and honored to wear this blue pants. I'm not going to list all the the establishments in in my world. But I'm also very, very proud to represent a large and engage Jewish population in the 43rd Ward. I also appreciate, you know, every time we talk about these issues of hate speech and hate speeches on the rise. We all know that your whether it's against the Jewish population, lgbtq plus population and black indigenous and people of It is on the rise. It is on the rise, it is up to us in this Council to continue speaking out against that hate speech. If we've been elected to have a voice, that's one way that we need to use it. So that's just a reminder. Again I'm very honored to stand in support of this resolution and thank you all for supporting it. Thank you. The chair recognizes old woman had They? Thank. Thank you, mr. President, I to rise in support of this resolution and thank my neighbor, and Charlie go home and silver stain for bringing it to us. Representing the 49th Ward Rogers, Park in West Ridge, have such a rich Heritage of Jewish Community is so much of what makes Rogers Park, the welcoming diverse, and inclusive place that it is, is because of the Jewish Americans that live there from our, our buildings, to our places of worship to, I won't list places either, but we got some fantastic out places. World-famous actually the Romanian But you. But yeah, it is, especially being a neighbor to the 50th Ward, right? With such a large concentration of Jewish Americans, having houses of worship, being part of the same Police District as well. We definitely see in our community that rise in hate crimes. The the graffiti right to hate speech. and, And it's I don't know, it's it can be disheartening, right? I can be disheartening for us to see so much of this hate rise up in a time that in some ways, feels more inclusive and more positive and more Progressive than ever. Now, I'm so know that in the 49th Ward is always an ally. I'm happy to be in LA, in a representative of all, of Jewish constituents and everyone else who supports and will continue to stand up against. So thank you, thank you for recognizing Oldman. Laspada. A good say I'm really proud to rise in support of this resolution. Having had the experience of working with Jewish camerican leaders. Do the Dene Adams senior caucus in my own Community I'm thinking of right friends and leaders like Marla Granville Jimmy Voss child out there because your community does more than just fight for your right to exist and thrive in peace in Chicago. The jewish-american community has consistently been in solidarity with all Martin life people and their right to exist and thrive in Chicago I think critically about the work of groups like a c u a y Today. today, or pushing to Today are pushing to make sure that everyone who has no home in this city has a place to lay their head, so proud of everything that you all have contributed to our city and just for your right to peace and life and to continue bringing so much vibrancy to our city. Thank you very much. I hope I look as good as that shirt that you're wearing today that has to feel very nice. The chair recognizes Alderman Conway. I to rise in support of this of this resolution at the Advent of covid, 15 RI activated by our military sent to be senior intelligence director of our European command. And in that role, I saw all day and everyday people take shots at our Israeli allies. Not, just Hezbollah and Hamas, but it happens all day everyday. And I'm shocked every American to see it attacks on a people for who they are and what they believe. And and here in America, we have seen Assume. A similar. Assume what we have, seen that same uptick attacks on on a people for who they are. And what they believe. As we have seen Sunnah, guys, get attacked. We've seen hateful rhetoric online and I want to thank you all for it for shining a light on it. I want to thank all their Alderman Silverstein for, or bringing this resolution before before us and proud to stand, as an alibi with my Colleagues as we combat anti-Semitism in this country and in the city and across the world. Thank you very much mr. President. Thank you Oldham in the chair recognizes almond Burnett. Thank you very much, mr. President and also stand in support of this resolution. You know, I've had the opportunity to travel to Israel and stay there for a couple of weeks. And at the time, when I was in Israel, I got the opportunity to visit the Moana to see some of the, the black Israelites there but also had the opportunity to meet with jus and and and see a lot of the Ethiopian Jews that was there and how they were incorporated into the community. And then at the same time, I got had the opportunity to meet with a lot of the, the Russian Jews who had just came over into Israel and and saw how Israel embrace them and taught them to culture and taught them how to speak Hebrew and all of those different things. And it just, Just met. Just made me see how the Jewish Community is so welcoming and how the support that a lot of us here in America give to them to help people from all over the world that you do not denied to come into that country to be a part of everything is just so gracious and it didn't. I, I look at nine of a lot of Jewish friends, but I'll look at how your religion and itself. You know, you teach there to to have Mick bus to help people to, you know, Gail and we think about all of the Jewish organizations, not-for-profit organizations that are supported by the Jewish community and all of the other Civic things that are being done here in our city, is it just so appreciative and I stand to celebrate, Jewish American heritage heritage month? I, I appreciate. I appreciate all of the contributions that you all have made here in America. But especially here in the city of Chicago and I just want to say Toda and mazel tov. Thank. Thank you, old men. Thank you old men. Chair recognizes older woman Nugent. Thank you, mr. President, I to rise in support of this resolution. Honoring may as Jewish American heritage month. And I'd also like to thank my colleague and neighbor Alderman Silverstein for introducing this resolution are bringing attention to these issues. And of course, for the conference, you called earlier this morning by the 39th Ward, is the proud home to a large and diverse Jewish community, and supporting awareness is critical in standing up to hate. So again, I am in full support of this resolution. Thank you again Alderman Silverstein. Thank you. Mister president, you older woman, the chair, recognizes Alderman Lopez. Good afternoon, mr. President, and thank you members of the city council. I rise in strong support of both this resolution introduced by my colleague, but also of the Jewish community in the city of Chicago, Cook County and Beyond wonderful. People who joined us today, including my good friend Allison from in a thoroughly embarrassed for this morning's press conference to talk about the continuing, an exponential rise. Anti-seize. Antisemita. Anti-Semitism and we see locally, regionally and nationally and God bless you. I heard something today that I thought was very profound and I think explains a lot for many of us who do not have. have the pleasure of representing, Jewish enclaves. I know the 15th Ward is as far from 50th Ward as can be, but we do know what hate ignorance and stupidity looks like. and, and I know that we heard today and one of our speakers, That. That hate is infectious. Hate is infectious. I think I was a very profound statement that we heard this morning as we were discussing this resolution to the press and to the public and talking about all the things that we need to do. And the people do, in fact, due to push back against anti-Semitism to push back against the ignorant, narratives, that we find. So, often times on social media and the internet in our neighborhoods. but I But I was thinking back, mr. President, a year ago, almost a year ago. At. I took a group on 15th, Ward residents to the Illinois, State Fair. In. And there they were able to do. And there they were able to join my friend Allison at the mobile Museum of Tolerance, which for any of you who have not seen it, it is a giant mobile Museum dedicated to speaking of the Jewish experience that particularly led up to the Holocaust. and, And I had young individuals from Back of the Yards, West Englewood and Gage Park, who join me on that bus, join me to see the videos and participate in the discussion. And brought back to memory today was brought back in my memories today. When I heard about the infectiousness of hate, and, And that infection is allowed to take root. Not just of the ignorance of those who wish to propel stereotypes and Propel hate, but often times of the ignorance in our own communities completely unaware or blue of human history, don't understand what individuals had to do. just, To stay alive to hide their fellow neighbors, or what happened in society that brought us to the point where you could turn a blind eye, The Six Million lies being extinguished. Things. So, Such. Such as that cannot be forgotten, cannot be overlooked and cannot be excluded and highlighted in our Public Schools they cannot be left over in our public discourse. What candidates think they can run on anti-semitic messaging. and I were And I would dare say mr. President. As. As we talked about this resolution, and I'm thankful that my colleague. Deborah Silverstein is allowed me to join her on this and others in the past that we need to do more. And I've said this before, when it's the day of remembrance, and I'll say it again today, as we talked about making May Jewish American heritage month that we can't just focus on pieces of paper. and we, and we need, And we need to put our money where our mouth is and we need to invest in programs like the mobile Museum of Tolerance so that our children in Chicago can experience it firsthand and every neighborhood where they can see what we're talking about is something that is real that was literally only a generation and a half ago. it's This was an ancient history for those of you. When I? We're not familiar. We must do better and we can do better. And I hope that we will continue to be champions of extinguishing, the virus known as hate in all its forms. Thank you, mr. President. Thank you Alderman, chair recognizes all the womanly Thank. Thank you. Thank you, mr. President, I to rise in support of this resolution and I'm not I cannot, I cannot like a alderman Lawson and aldermen Knudsen. And in others speak of a Jewish community that I represent is a small community in my 11th ward, although I will say, we would welcome a bagel shop or a Jewish deli. We have Economic Development going on on Halsted, just putting it out there. I think it's fitting actually that with this resolution and may be designated as Jewish American heritage month that we share this with the Asian American community. And I think in particular with these recognition for heritage month, it is our opportunity to share our stories. Not just within our communities but outside I'm in. I'm in super, I'm in to find common ground. So I'd like to just lighten it up a little bit. I like to think that I think that our communities have in common and I think our love of food is one. So, you know, I'm a big fan of Jewish wonton. We also have also our love of Mahjong about that. I'd love to At some point. Set appointment. At some point, let's go to Mahjong. Tournament going on between our Wards. I think there is there is so much more power and US finding common ground to fight. Hate, is the other thing, unfortunately, that our communities have in common is the increase in hate against our community members. We've seen that since covid and we continue to battle net. And these are only the incidence of hate that are reported. We know many more of them go unreported with that. I appreciate all of the work that every single member sitting in the Box does on a daily basis to fight anti-Semitism. And hate is hate against one is hating against all. It has no place in our society, it definitely has no place in our city. I thank you for all that you do and it looks forward to continuing to partner with you, recognize it Thank. Thank you. Thank you, mr. President. Yeah, I also rise up, probably in association with this resolution and wanted to mend our colleagues alderwoman Silverstein matches for today, but for tirelessly, for years, now making sure this council is centered and focused to make sure we're supportive of our Jewish Community. I know part of our new 45 help increase our population of Jewish folks in 40 ft, but separate from just, you know, where their enclaves are not as a representative of the city and understanding, how much of our history is to our Chewy. Jewish siblings. We want to make sure they're grounded, you know, my family. I don't talk about it too often. Our kids like the menorah, as well as celebrate Christmas in the moment that we find ourselves. When we think about a people who are persecuted and oppressed seeking Refuge, to be able to get that support and in recognizing that people that have gone to that, experience to Generations. Also give of themselves to support. Others were going through similar experiences. I need something, we need to all be grounded and because it's not only about a love for a Toshiba but it's also their love for all of us and that kind of standing up for those who are not of the same identity to make sure we all have that kind of city that kind of world on that. I think we need to be grounded in. I also appreciate comments by our colleagues referring to what we know is a disease and that is this the sentiment of hate that is grounded in an emptiness. And ignorance that if we're looking good to heal our folks inside Darcy. Star City of that. Star City of that, BB antidote or the vaccination to that disease is having the awareness. Have any kind of openness that brings people into educate them. And then we do see and we seen that in this in the city as well as in the ward or any of like the graffiti that comes up. There is a hate there but there's a loneliness and emptiness there that I think we should also acknowledged to be able to address. We know that we don't stand for any of it. We know that there are many who are a really don't have the courage that engage in conversations and find it easier to do, whatever you think. It's a joke or try to articulate any level of hate. Our city is a stand for in the men who has targeted towards because we are always going to be once they see that works against the segregation. It's been here and its history to make sure that we are in solidarity and we have found our success together. And so I want to thank everyone who's the comedian that has helped our city out and are calling other women Silverstein for making sure that it's always something. I think. I think he, I think you very much and thank you mr. President. Thank you Alderman. Chair recognizes all the woman down Thank you, mr. President, I to rise to be associated with this resolution. I represent the South Loop community in, and I work closely with the South Lucia by Jewish center, and I do my work with him. I have seen the rides. Antisemita. Anti-Semitism from the destruction of the menorah to snide comments says, people are gathering in certain places to Graffiti that I've had to have cleaned almost immediately. The rise of anti-Semitism and the rise of racism in this country is indeed brightening and the alderman Silverstein. I just wanted to acknowledge you and thank you for putting forward this resolution so that we can continue to fight together to end this evil and Justice. That is infecting this country. Everywhere, we have to speak out not only in this chamber, but in places like Twitter and Instagram. When we see it, we have to call it out. And I think also that we need to support organizations, Jewish organizations black and with t. Working Tuesdays. Organizations that are fighting. So that we always remember what happened in this country and in Europe and that we work together to create the kind of country that we all want to live in. Thank you, thank you older woman and finally the chair recognizes alderwoman Mahna hoppenworth Thank you, mister president. I to stand in support of this resolution. I think my neighbor Malik Jefferson listing for Ramos 4th and I echo my colleagues at other women lie in our Graves Vasquez and their remarks. I am part of Grassroots organizations across the state of Illinois and the rise in anti-Semitism is real. What we were hearing it also happens and that I represent the 48th Ward, which is Andersonville Edgewater in uptown, and we are one of the most diverse and very engaged towards, but we are not immune to hate. But what I want to tell you is that I said thank you for being here to stand witness. And just for you to know that we stand in solidarity with you, my Community Arts Community, the city of Chicago State of Illinois against hate of all kinds. Thank you. Thank. Thank you. And Thank you, and congratulations for being the first freshman. I guess, the second freshman, I guess I'm a freshman too. I supposed to speak today. I'm throughout the month of May, we have recognized Jewish American history, Jewish American heritage month to honor and celebrate. Our City's Jewish American Community, Jewish American people contribute significantly to our City's culture social and Can I mix 5? Can I make fabric? Can I make fabric the history?
